The pure arcade racer is back, and it belongs on a phone

Console racing has drifted (sorry) toward simulation for years — tire wear, fuel maps, the works. On mobile, though, the arcade racer is having a moment, and it fits the platform like a glove.

Neon Drift Circuit is basically one idea done extremely well: hold the slide, build boost, chain corners. There's nothing to manage except your own nerve. On a phone, that immediacy is exactly what you want.

The control question always comes up. Tilt feels natural but imprecise; buttons feel stiff but reliable. My tip is to try both for a few laps before deciding, because the right choice depends on how you hold your phone.
